Testimonianza di profughi eritrei ed etiopi arrivati in Israele passando dai lager nel Sinai

The patient stayed in Libya 1 year and 8 months. They went on a boat to cross to Italy, but there was a problem with the boat. The Libyan authorities came to rescue them and put them in prison for 4 months. After release from prison he came to Sinai and stayed for 3 months.
He was in the group of 85 people who were brought from Libya. 20 of them were left behind.
He was beaten many times. He had a problem on his face before, he got slapped on the spot and it has grown swollen and bigger since. 3 people were taken away from the group after not paying money, and were never seen again The women in his group were not raped but he heard that other women were taken away and assaulted. The most humiliating thing that happened to him was that he got sick with diarrhea while being chained to the rest of the group, men and women, and the smugglers did not allow him to go to the toilet.
Regarding the location where they were kept: On the way to Sinai they crossed a bridge. They were brought in on a lorry -they were stored on the bottom, covered on top of them with bricks, wood, and more bricks- all around them. It was a life threatening journey - an hour and a half long. Many people could not breathe, this is how they were brought to Sinai. The place where they were held was a one hour drive away from the Israeli border. They were kept in a compound in what sounded like a village. They saw women and children. Near to where they were kept jailed there was a kindergarden. They were all kept on one chain and when untied to go to the toilet they could see around a little.
Regarding the smugglers: Abu Khaled was one of the names given for the smugglers, this was name told to people coming from Libya. To people coming from other places he gave the name Abu Tarek. They looked like city people, they had pick-up trucks.
There were many men with guns, they dont know if they were military or not.an hour and a half long.
2. they never saw him. For the last 10 days there was an Eritrian interperter who spoke Arabic, his name was Tedros, but they dont know if he was working with them, or just interperting. They took the people who couldnt pay and put them in the worst conditions to stress them. His family paid 11.000 dollars, they sold all of their livestock and collected money from the village. He has scars on his hands from the border fence. He was in Israeli jail for 10 days. 12 people tried to run away, they were caught, beaten, their arms and legs broken. 5 smugglers were beating them, 3 overlooking with guns. (Kalachnikov, Brand?) They would hear them shooting and drinking, and hope that police or army will find them, even deport them, but they never come. He never heard that this was hapenning or else he would have never come, even the years he was in Libya, in prison, were better.
3. He saw people getting beaten, the smugglers shot near their faces and ears to threaten, scare them, and get the money, doing this while they were on the phone with people who could pay for them. The trafficker threatened them by showing them people who did not pay and were therefore burned with fire as punishment. Another traumatic part of his experience was being kept in the Israeli prison for an entire year. 4. When being brought to Sinai the vehicle they were kept in overturned. The patient was badly injured, as were many others in his group. The traffickers did not want to keep them because many were injured, and let them go on by foot. He suffered a lot of pain as he had to walk through the desert with a broken leg from the accident
5. The men in their group were beaten. The trafickers were moving them from one place to another. They drove fast with them on board and the car overturned. Two people died, one boy and one girl, and the patient's leg was badly injured. All the wounded people stayed in Sinai for a week after the accident without any medicine and care. This was horrible as they suffered from extreme pain without any remedy. The trafickers took one 19 year old girl, who was with the patient the whole way, and abused her, many of them at a time. When they returned her to the group, without clothes and assaulted, she died in her arms. A total of three people were killed from their group. The patient left her children with her mother in her home country, her husband was killed.
6. He was beaten because the trafickers wanted to rape some of the girls and he said he was with one of them so that she would not be taken. Three ethiopian girls from the group were raped. They were kept in a house with a watchman and beaten daily
7. She was planing to go to Sweden, but was kidnapped on the border of Eritria and brought to Sinai. They were locked in a building and only allowed out once a day, for 45 days, until they could pay the money. For one week she was held under the sun so that she would pay. The men were beaten. Three girls were taken and never came back. It was a traumatic experience
